Earlier this evening we went out for dinner, among other running around today. I was glad to get out for the day, let me tell you! You just go stir crazy after being home for a week straight. It was a nice family day out! :)
We were given a Christmas gift of some gift cards to Chili's. Figured we'd use them while we're out and about today. We're sitting there eating and Eric was like, "Check out that guy's jacket." This little family of 3 came in and the man of the family was wearing an Iraqi War Vets jacket. I told Eric we should pay for their dinner. So we were there waiting for our food and Eric suggested we pass along the gift cards to the Vet, so while taking my daughter to the restroom I put the cards on their table and thanked him for serving our country.
Of course, they were surprised and very thankful. Then I walked away and was very face twitchy, trying not to cry. After Grace and I finished our trip to the restroom, I decided to stop by the table and thank the Mrs. for her sacrifice, too (I had walked away kind of quickly after I put the cards on the table, thanking the Vet the first time through).
It was such a blessing to share a gift with someone that has shared his/their life with our country.

What a kind and thoughtful gesture. Thank YOU for always being an example and reminding me there are good people in the world.
Awesome post! And what a great reminder of the sacrifices from the family at home too
that's so awesome Emily! That really gives life to that verse, to give is more blessed than receiving. thank you for sharing (and being so generous) :)
So precious! Brought tears to my eyes, too.
If you ever see a soldier, I highly recommend paying for him/her - if you're able! It is seriously one of the greatest blessings!
Now that was a beautiful act of service.
